Omar Hussain Al Fardan - Chairman

Chairman of the Board of Directors - National Bank of Oman & Chairman of the Executive Committee of the Board. Board Member & Director of the Commercial Bank of Qatar Q.S.C. - Doha; United Arab Bank - Sharjah and United Development Company P.S.C. - Doha. He is also the Chairman of Qatar District Cooling Co. Q.C.S.C. - Doha; Vice Chairman and Managing Director of Middle East Dredging Co. Q.S.C - Doha and the President of Al Fardan Group Holding Co. L.L.C. - Doha, and its subsidiaries.

Mohammed Mahfoodh Al Ardhi - Deputy Chairmen

Director of The Board of Investcorp Bank, NYC, USA and The International Advisory Board of The Brookings Institute, Washington DC, USA. A retired Air Vice Marshal by profession, Mr Mohammed Mahfoodh Al Ardhi joined the Royal Air Force (RAFO) of Oman in 1978, and was subsequently appointed as Chief of Omani Air Force. In 2000, he was awarded the ‘Order of Oman’ by his Majesty Sultan Qaboos bin Said.
Mr. Al Ardhi holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Military Science, from Royal Air Force U.K Staff College, in Bracknell, England and a Masters in Public Policy, from John F. Kennedy School of Government, Harvard University, USA.

Sayyidah Rawan Al Said - Director

Director since April 2005. Chairperson of the Audit Committee and member of the Risk Committee of the Board and the Credit Committee of the Board. Board Member in Oman Oil Marketing Co. SAOG and National Investment Funds Company(NIFCO)SOAC Group CEO of Oman National Investment Corporation Holding (ONICH) SAOG. Sayyidah Rawan has a Master’s Degree in Economics and Finance and Post Graduate Diploma in Investment Analysis.

Anil Nahar - Director

Director since November 2003. Member of the Executive Committee, Credit Committee, Audit Committee and the Premises Committee of the Board. Director of AES Barka SAOG., Oman Dental College (SAOG) and Sharqiyah Desalination Co. SAOC. Financial Advisor, Bahwan Engineering Company, which is part of the Suhail Bahwan Group (Holding) LLC.

Sheikh Abdullah Ali Al Thani - Director

Director since July 2005. Represents The Commercial Bank of Qatar. Deputy Chairman The Commercial Bank of Qatar.

Andrew Charles Stevens - Director

Director since July 2005. Chairman of the Premises Committee of the Board, Member of the Executive Committee of the Board and Credit Committee of the Board. Group Chief Executive Officer, The Commercial Bank Group; Director, United Arab Bank; Chairman, Diners Club Services, Egypt; and Chairman of Orient 1 Limited.

Dr. Younis Khalfan Al Akhzami - Director

Director since April 2006. Member of the Executive Committee, Premises Committee, Audit Committee and Donation Committee of the Board. Director General, Planning and Development in the Ministry of Manpower.

Saif Said Salim Al Yazidi - Director

Director since March 2008. Member of the Audit Committee, Risk Committee and Donation Committee of the Board. Member of the Board of Oman International Development and Investment Company, Muscat Gases Company, Oman National Engineering and Investment Company, Oryx Investment Fund, and Market Stabilization Fund. Mr. Al Yazidi holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Management Sciences, Accounting and a Masters in Business Administration (MBA). He is the Manager of Investment Department at The Civil Service Employees Pension Fund.

Suresh M. Shivdasani - Director

Director since June 2010. Advisor to the Chairman, Suhail Bahwan Group. Managing Director, Sohar International Urea and Chemical Industries S.A.O.C.
Suresh Shivdasani holds a B.Tech degree in Electrical Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Delhi- India, and an MBA degree from McMaster University Canada.

Robert Sharpe - Director

Robert joined the Board of National Bank of Oman in 2011.  Robert is based in Muscat, Oman.  He is an Independent Director and is also Vice Chairman of Orient 1 and Chief Executive of Diners Club International in Oman.  He has over 30 years  experience in Banking and during his career he has been the CEO of three major UK Financial Institutions.  In March of this year, following a request from the UK Regulatory Authorities in 2008, he completed a rescue of one of the largest UK Mortgage Companies.  His career has provided varying roles in the UK, US and European Banking markets through his Board roles with Bank of America, Bank of Ireland,  and the third largest UK Building Society where he was CEO from 1999 until 2007 - an organisation with a balance sheet in excess of OMR13bn.  He has managed Financial Institution’s through three business cycles since the 1970’s.  He also has considerable experience as an Independent Board Director having served on the Boards of several listed and private companies in the UK.  Until leaving the UK for Oman he held positions on the Pension Board of Barclays Bank and was Chairman of a joint venture between HSBC and Barclays.
