A. HIMAYATI is a pure term life insurance plan with an option to cover critical illnesses.
Q. What are the various plans available under HIMAYATI and what do these plans cover?

Q. Who can be covered in this plan?
A. This plan is exclusively for NBO customers in the age bracket of 18 to 65 years.
Q. Is HIMAYATI compulsory for NBO customers?
A. NO. This is a voluntary plan where the customer has the option of choosing the plan.
Q. What are the benefits of HIMAYATI?
A. HIMAYATI offers:
· Standard premiums regardless of age. Automatic renewals.
· Monthly / Annual premium payment options.
· No medical check-ups and no medical questionnaires are required.
· Has provision to cover spouse also for 100% sum assured.
· Hospital cash benefit for 8 critical illnesses. Covers blindness also.
· Insurance underwritten by a recognized, renowned and strong insurance company- AXA Insurance Gulf B.S.C.
Q. Is this cover worldwide?
A. YES, the cover is worldwide operating 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and 365 days in a year.
Q. What if I already have an insurance plan or I am already covered with other banks/ insurance company?
A. HIMAYATI provides insurance cover irrespective of any other policy you might have. Other insurance policies shall not affect any claims under this plan.
Q. What are the various medical conditions covered under Critical Illness Protector Plan?
A. Critical Illness Protector Plan covers 8 medical conditions namely –
- Heart Attack
- Cancer
- Kidney Failure
- Major Organ Transplant
- Multiple Sclerosis
- Stroke
- Coronary Artery By-pass Surgery
- Blindness
Q. Can I avail the Hospital Cash Benefit for hospitalization of any type of illness?
A. NO, Hospital Cash Benefit covers hospitalization on account of the above mentioned critical illness conditions only.
Q. Do I need to undergo any medical tests for critical illness protector plan?
A. There is no need to undergo any medical tests or fill medical questionnaire for all HIMAYATI plans including Critical Illness Protector Plan.
Q. Is there a waiting period for critical illness protector plan?
A. YES, there is a waiting period of 120 days for critical illness protector plan. Any claim pertaining to the 8 covered diseases will not be paid if the same is detected in the initial 120 days of taking the critical illness protector cover.
Q. Is pre-existing conditions covered under this insurance plan?
A. NO, Pre-existing conditions are not covered under this insurance plan.
Q. What documents are required for taking HIMAYATI?
A. Customer needs to fill the HIMAYATI application form available at the branch. No additional documents are required.
Q. When does the plan begin?
A. The Insurance coverage begins just after the debit of first premium from your account.
Q. Does the policy have a review period or a free look period?
A. YES, There is a free look period of 30 days and within that a customer can cancel the policy and get the full amount of premium refunded.
Q. How will I, as a customer, pay the premium?
A. The premium will be charged through direct debit from customer’s NBO account.
Q. What if I do not have enough money in my account?

Q. What if my premium payment is delayed for any reason?
A. There is a provision of 31 days grace period from the due date of premium. You will remain covered during this grace period. We will check your account on a daily basis during this period to debit the premium.
Q. If I do not want the policy, can I cancel?
A. A customer can cancel the policy at any point of time with a cancellation letter written to the bank.
Q. What if I cancel the plan within the review period?
A. If you cancel the policy with in the review period of 30 days, the entire amount will be refunded to you.
Q. What if I cancel after the review period of 30 days?
A. In case of monthly plan the policy will sustain for 31 more days from the last premium payment due date, after which it will lapse automatically.
In case of annual plan, refund of the premium will be on percentage pro-rata basis. But if your next premium is due, then the policy will sustain for 31 more days from the last premium payment due date, after which it will lapse automatically.
Q. For how long do I need to pay the premium?
A. As long as you would like to keep the policy alive.
Q. After opting out, can I rejoin the scheme?
A. Yes, you may rejoin the scheme once you opt out. However, it is subject to prior approval from the insurance company.
Q. When will you take the first debit?
A. First debit would be done after signing the application form. However, if you want the debit to be done from any other date, the same needs to be mentioned in the application form.
Q. When will I receive the policy certificate?
A. The certificate of insurance will be handed over to you at the NBO Branch itself, after the first debit is processed.
Q. How will my dependents or I make the claim?
A. The claimant has to contact any of the NBO branches and submit the claim related documents .We shall subsequently coordinate with the insurance company to get the claim processed.
Q. What documents are required to make the claim?
A. (a) In case of Natural Death:
· Death Certificate stating the cause of death.
· Post –Mortem report if it is legally required.
· Medical/Hospitalization report.
· Clear copy of Passport or National Identity Certificate with visa page for the deceased.
· Any other document as the Insurance Company may deem necessary.
(b) In case of Accidental Death
· Death Certificate stating the cause of death.
· Police Report.
· Post-mortem report if it is legally required.
· Medical /Hospitalization report.
· Clear copy of Passport or National Identity Certificate with visa page for the deceased.
· Any other document as the insurance company may deem necessary.
(c) In case of Accident Permanent Total Disability-
· Disability Certificates from a Medical Practitioner or a medical board authorized to assess disability.
· Police report (if disability due to an accident).
· Medical report from an authorized Medical Practitioner with detailed diagnosis causes of disability and details of treatment given (if any).
· Any other document as the insurance company may deem necessary.
Q. How will the claim proceeds be paid? Do I need to nominate a beneficiary?
A. The claim proceeds will be paid to you in your NBO account in case of any claim under the Critical Illness Protector Plan and claim proceeds will be paid to the beneficiary in case of any claim under the Life Protector Plan. In case of any litigation, the beneficiary/ies as designated by the court will be getting the total amount in the NBO account.
Q. What happens if I travel abroad?
A. Your plan is effective worldwide and can continue to be serviced, provided premium are paid on time.
Q. If I close my NBO account, can I directly continue the coverage with the insurance company?
A. HIMAYATI is an exclusive scheme for NBO customers, and is applicable as long as you have an account with us. You cannot get the same directly from the insurance company.
Q. Are there any financial charges on the subscription amount?
A. No. there are no financial charges over and above the subscription amount.
